Chrysoberyl cat's eye is a variety of beryllium aluminum oxide that exhibits the optical trait known as 'chatoyancy'. Chatoyancy is an optical reflectance effect seen in certain gemstones, that resembles the slit eye of a cat, hence the name 'cat's eye'.
